Wooden Daikon Grater

This traditional wooden grater is typically used for daikon (Japanese turnip). Moving the daikon in a circular motion and grating against the grain results in increased hotness and pungency because breaking down the cells releases the same volatile oils that are found in wasabi and horseradish.
